Portmeirion Village was built between 1925 and 1939 by Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis to demonstrate how a naturally beautiful place could be developed without spoiling it. It is also famous as the location for the 1960s TV series "The Prisoner".

St. Beuno's at Clynnog Fawr: impressive 16th Century church with a number of interesting artefacts.

The Welsh Highland Railway runs between Caernarfon and Rhyd Ddu. The Ffestiniog railway can be picked up at Porthmadog.

Work is continuing to complete the WHR extension to Porthmadog by Easter 2010. Click here for more information.

The Snowdon Mountain Railway normally runs from May to November, although a partial service (to Clogwyn station) starts earlier in the season, weather permitting. The new summit cafe ("Hafod Eryri" — which translates as "summer residence in Snowdonia") is open from 08:00 to 20:00 each day.
