Cae Mawr.JPG

Our quiet and comfortable B&B is situated amidst open fields overlooking the small villages of Tan Yr Allt and Talysarn in the Nantlle Valley. There are marvellous sea views across Caernarfon Bay, from the Rivals to Holyhead Mountain, and on a clear evening it is possible to see right across the Irish Sea to the Wicklow Hills.

We aim to offer space and privacy for couples and small parties: see our Room Rates page for details.

Cae Mawr is conveniently situated for access to some of the loveliest hills in Snowdonia and is very close to the end of the Nantlle Ridge, which is generally rated second only to the Snowdon Horseshoe as a high-level ridge walk. (We can take you to Rhyd Ddu and you can walk back to Cae Mawr over the mountains.) The nearby Rhyd Ddu and Snowdon Ranger paths offer beautiful, and much quieter routes up Wales highest mountain. A number of lower-level walks are also available in the area, including some that pass by the end of the farm track up to the house.

A variety of beautiful beaches are close by (the nearest is at Dinas Dinlle), as well as interesting historical sites such as Caernarfon and Penrhyn Castles, and the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion. Why not combine a walk in the hills with a relaxing day on the beach? Or hire a bike and explore the local area: there are routes to suit all abilities.
